Equestrian Martial Arts

Looking for something new & exciting to try?

Chris Kovach, an experienced cavalier and military historian, offers Equestrian Martial Arts at Turnout Stables.

Chris has been teaching Equestrian Martial Arts at Turnout Stables for over 3 years. Equestrian Martial Arts is the study and practice of any and all aspects of fighting and defending from horseback with hand-held weapons as well as archery. The main weapons taught for use on horseback are sword, lance, and bow. Equestrian Martial Arts is an ancient and elite form of combat that, although now obsolete in modern militaries, has not entirely been lost to history.

Chris offers a look into the skills and techniques that horse-borne warriors used in ages past. In essence, you can learn to ride like a knight! Most lessons are private, one-on-one affairs, but group lessons can be arranged. Chris also teaches historical martial arts of both the Italian and German traditions.
